Meta_ é cantora, compositora e produtora de Trás-os-Montes. Cresceu entre o canto das mais velhas à volta do lume e o silêncio da noite. Foi a ouvir as avós cantar que começou a cantar também.
Junta a sua voz ancestral a produção eletrónica e orgânica, e canta em português, espanhol e inglês. É uma das pioneiras da nova vaga de folktronica em Portugal.
O álbum de estreia, “XIV – A Integração”, saiu em 2023 pela editora argentina ShikaShika e estreou ao vivo no Primavera Sound Porto. Recebeu 4 estrelas da revista Songlines. Em 2019 foi finalista do Festival da Canção, a convite da Antena 1.
Já tocou no NOS Alive, Rio Loco (França), Urkult (Suécia), Mumi (Espanha) e Waves Vienna (Áustria), e fez duas digressões europeias: em 2020 e em 2025, pela Islândia, Eslovénia e Croácia. Desde 2022 faz parte da banda ao vivo de Xinobi, com quem tocou no Soundscape Istanbul, EuropaVox, MEO Kalorama e NOS Alive. “For Your Soul”, com Xinobi e DJEFF, entrou nos tops do Beatport e estreou na BBC Radio 1, no programa de Pete Tong.
Canta e aparece no filme “Lobo e Cão”, de Cláudia Varejão. Fora dos palcos, é sonoplasta de teatro com a UmColetivo e faz residências com comunidades rurais, com os mais velhos e com crianças. Em 2026 está a trabalhar no próximo álbum.
Meta_ is a singer, songwriter and producer from Trás-os-Montes, Portugal. She grew up surrounded by the elders’ chants around the fire and the silence of the night. Listening to her grandmothers sing is how she started singing too.
She fuses her ancestral voice with electronic and organic production, singing in Portuguese, Spanish and English. She is one of the pioneers of the new wave of folktronica emerging in Portugal.
Her debut album, “XIV – A Integração”, was released in 2023 by Argentinian label ShikaShika and premiered live at Primavera Sound Porto. It received 4 stars from Songlines. In 2019 she was a finalist at Festival da Canção, Portugal’s Eurovision selection, invited by Antena 1.
She has played NOS Alive, Rio Loco (FR), Urkult (SE), Mumi (ES) and Waves Vienna (AT), and toured Europe twice: in 2020, and in 2025 through Iceland, Slovenia and Croatia. Since 2022 she has been part of Xinobi’s live band, playing Soundscape Istanbul, EuropaVox, MEO Kalorama and NOS Alive. “For Your Soul”, with Xinobi and DJEFF, reached the Beatport charts and premiered on BBC Radio 1 on Pete Tong’s show.
She sings and appears in Cláudia Varejão’s film “Lobo e Cão”. Off stage, she is a theatre sound designer with UmColetivo and runs residencies with rural communities, working with elders and children. In 2026 she is working on her next album.
